WASHINGTON — Wayne Rooney is a little more than three months into his tenure with D.C. United, but it feels as if he's been around for longer.

The Englishman has done so much to revitalize Major League Soccer's original superpower, yet has fit into the locker room so seamlessly, that it's easy to forget United had just two wins all year when he arrived in mid-July.

Since then, United has rocketed so far up the standings that it clinched a playoff berth on Sunday.
