The Philadelphia Union will be wearing a generic jersey made out of recycled marine plastics for their April 21 game at FC Dallas as part of a league-wide partnership with an environmental organization concerned with the threat of ocean plastic pollution.
The white jersey with black trim will also include a black and white Bimbo logo instead of the traditional red, white and blue logo for their bread company jersey sponsor, since the jerseys will all be “non-dye.”
It’s not the first time the Bimbo logo has been a different color — the Bethlehem Steel FC homage jerseys had an orange one-color retro Bimbo logo on a black jersey — but it does blend in better with the jersey, even if it is by design pretty bland and indistinguishable from the other teams wearing white.
