For the first time in more than a year, the Union are down in Washington to take on D.C. United. After years of heated matches at RFK Stadium and the Maryland SoccerPlex, the I-95 rivalry will grace Audi Field, the soccer-specific stadium DCU opened not even two months ago.
United have been in good-form since the night their long-awaited stadium saw its first action. DCU defeated Vancouver, 3-1, on July 14th, and won three of the four home games that followed. After a terrible, road-game-heavy start to the season saw DCU win just twice through the first three and a half months of the season, they’ve managed to claw themselves back into the playoff picture.
