Union trounce Red Bulls 3-0, two homegrown goals move Philly into 2nd place

After being held scoreless in Columbus, Philadelphia Union rebounded by blowing out the rival New York Red Bulls 3-0 Sunday night at Red Bull Arena.

Brenden Aaronson’s long range curler opened the scoring in the first half before Kacper Przybylko and Matt Real finished things off in the latter frame.

The Union made one change to their first eleven following the close match with the Crew as Jakob Glesnes entered for Jack Elliott, who was available off the bench at both the center back and holding midfield positions.

Philadelphia clearly came into the match with a point to prove about their status as an Eastern Conference contender, while the Red Bulls limped in after parting ways with former head coach Chris Armas.
