Completing a draft day trade, the Philadelphia Union sent Zach Pfeffer to Colorado Rapids, along with general allocation money, in exchange for the No. 2 overall pick in the 2016 MLS SuperDraft. The Union selected defender Joshua Yaro with the pick. Per club and league policy, additional details were not disclosed.
Pfeffer, 21, joined the Union on Dec. 22, 2010, signing as a 15-year-old Homegrown player. In five years with the club, he played in 30 games and made 14 starts. He scored three goals, including two in 2015.
"Zach has grown from a 15-year-old teenager to a 21-year-old man during his time with the Union,” Philadelphia Union Sporting Director Earnie Stewart said.
