The Union are hosting the team's Pride Night July 26 against Columbus Crew SC, and for the match, the team is partnering with You Can Play.

You Can Play was founded in 2012 by Patrick Burke, then a scout for the Philadelphia Flyers, and Brian Kitts and Glenn Witman of GForce Sports, in memory of Burke's younger brother Brendan Burke, who combated homophobia in hockey. The younger Burke, who was gay and a student manager of the Miami (OH) University hockey team, passed away in 2010 in an automobile accident. Patrick Burke, Kitts and Witman launched You Can Play as a way to continue Brendan's legacy of ensuring that LGBT athletes around the world are afforded equal opportunity and are judged only by their talent, character, and work ethic in their sport.
