A late free-kick goal from Roland Alberg pulled victory from the jaws of two agonizingly long extra-time periods on Wednesday night.
The Philadelphia Union's quest for a third-straight Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup Final appearance (or loss, depending on how optimistic you're feeling) began tonight. Goals from Walter Restrepo and Roland Alberg ensured victory over City Islanders FC and entry into the next round of the Open Cup.
But of course it wasn't that easy; after all, this is the Open Cup. Though the Union carried a 2-0 lead to the 79th minute, they found themselves tied with the Islanders by stoppage time.
