Union beat Orlando City, move into first

Tranquillo Barnetta might still be rounding into form, but he showed he can strike a ball with plenty of authority.

Barnetta's free kick from 25 yards out in the 90th minute Friday gave the Union a 2-1 MLS win over Orlando City before 15,011 at Talen Energy Stadium.

Barnetta's shot went into the upper right corner and Orlando City keeper Joe Bendik, who played a strong game, barely moved.

This was only Barnetta's second game after missing the first three with tendinitis in his knee.

Union keeper Andre Blake preserved the win with a late-game save from close range.
