On December 17, US Soccer announced that Philadelphia Union assistant coach BJ Callaghan completed the Pro License coaching course. According to US Soccer, the Pro License is "the highest soccer license recognized in North America and completes the U.S. Soccer coaching education pathway that begins at the grassroots level."
Over the course of a year, Callaghan attended three in-person courses -- in January, June, and December respectively -- and welcomed educators and evaluators to training sessions so they could observe how he put theory into practice. Observers from US Soccer watched Callaghan's work at Union training this season and subsequently deemed him qualified to receive the Pro License.
