Philadelphia Union academy goalkeeper Kris Shakes has been called up to the Under-18 US Men’s National Team for the upcoming Vaclav Jezek tournament in Czech Republic in August. Shakes will join fellow academy member Axel Picazo at the tournament, which runs from August 18-25.
The 17-year old Shakes has been a standout performer at the academy and was recently named to the Eastern Conference Best XI by the US Soccer Development Academy. Splitting time between the U17s and the U19s at the Union academy this year, Shakes also trained with Bethlehem Steel and Philadelphia Union’s first team on occasion.
