A big domino fell Tuesday in the Union’s offseason overhaul of their roster, as Roland Alberg’s departure from the team became official.

The Dutch midfielder was announced as a signing by Bulgarian club CSKA Sofia, on a two-year contract that will take effect January 1.

CSKA’s announcement notably came before the Union made it official that Alberg has departed. That announcement is expected Wednesday morning. Sporting director Earnie Stewart and head coach Jim Curtin are scheduled to hold a press conference at noon to look back on the season and look ahead to the winter.
