The Philadelphia Union’s second annual holiday event and the first 5k run took place Sunday at Talen Energy Stadium.
The cold and foggy Sunday morning turned into a bright, sunny and cheerful afternoon. By the time the race began at 10 a.m., the sun was out and the 140 runners began the route around the stadium, practice fields and Delaware River.
Philadelphia Union goalkeeper John McCarthy and midfielder Sebastien Le Toux participated in the race, and blazed the trail for me and the other runners to follow.
14-year-old Riley Williamson finished in first place in the men’s category with a time of 18.
