A former University of Memphis standout cut by Minnesota United FC after spending much of preseason with the expansion club is getting a look by the Philadelphia Union organization, according to a report from his hometown newspaper.
Patrick Ochs of the SunHerald reported Wednesday that Raul “Chino” Gonzalez trained on Tuesday with Bethlehem Steel FC and was expected to train with the first team for the rest of the week.
The Ocean Springs, Mississippi native played four seasons at Memphis, scoring 13 goals and dishing out 13 assists in 65 appearances but had his senior season cut short because of injury after 12 games and went undrafted.
