Accam came to the Philadelphia Union via trade last year from Chicago Fire. The Ghanaian international, was coming off a personal high 14 goals for Chicago in 2017. A large trade for past Sporting Director, Ernie Stewart, with a total trade package of more than a million dollars in allocation money.
David was unable to find his rhythm in 2018 only scoring one goal in 23 games. Accam started to be lost in the depth chart of the Union, ending his 2018 season with a surgery to repair a sports hernia.
The same story seemed to be the case at the start of the 2019 season.
