QUOTE SHEET: Ernst Tanner full interview

Philadelphia Union: Tell me about how you fell in love with soccer and what keeps you excited about it to this day.

Ernst Tanner: First of all: Thanks! I'm excited to be here. I was always a soccer guy. Growing up at the German-Austrian border, doing my study later on in Cologne at the German sports school. So I started my career as a youth coach, becoming an academy director, also more or less a manager for the second team. Then the story continued with Hoffenheim where I was first of all responsible for the academy and the second team, then after 10 months I got first team Sporting Director for two years, and when Ralf Rangnick, who was coach at that time [at Hoffenheim] took over at [Red Bull] Salzburg, he fetched me to Red Bull Salzburg, also in charge of the academy and the second team, where I have been now for six years, developing quite a lot.
