The Philadelphia Union announced the signing of goalkeeper Carlos Manuel Coronel on loan from RB Salzburg. Coronel will look to backup Andre Blake, who will have a busy year with the Union as well as the Jamaica National Team.
Coronel is a 22 year old Brazilian with whom Sporting Director Ernst Tanner is very familiar. According to the press release from the Union, it was Tanner who brought Coronel from his native Brazil to Austria in 2015 where he played with FC Liefering in the Austrian Second Division. Liefering is an affiliate club of RB Salzburg, and Coronel made his debut in the Austrian Bundesliga in the final match of 2018.
