Philadelphia Union Academy alum signs with Harrisburg

York, Pennsylvania native Shane Campbell will have a chance to start his professional career close to home. The former Louisville and Penn State defender/midfielder who spent time with the Philadelphia Union Academy announced that he had signed with the Harrisburg City Islanders on social media Tuesday.

"Signing for Harrisburg and being able to start my professional career in the 717 is a dream come true," Campbell said later via direct message on Twitter.

Campbell finished his college career in the fall for Louisville, where he spent two seasons after transferring from Penn State. An early season injury limited him to only five starts in nine games during his senior season, but he did score a 75th minute equalizer as a substitute against Virginia Tech.
