Philadelphia Lone Star FC’s first women’s team will be an expansion club in the Women’s Premier Soccer League for the 2019 season.
“Our board is very delighted that the WPSL approved our application to begin our inaugural season in 2019,” club president and executive director Paul Konneh said in a news release. “In our 17-year history, this will be our first women’s team. We know it will be a challenge to play in a very competitive league like the WPSL in our first season, but we will make every effort to ensure that our new women’s team be successful like all Philadelphia Lone Star FC sides.
