There will be no Champions League for the Philadelphia Union in 2020, but they will play their first competitive international match in the 2020 Leagues Cup.
The Union are one of eight teams that has qualified for the 16-team tournament to be played between teams from MLS and Liga MX in Mexico next year. The tournament was played with eight teams via invite this year with all of the games being played on U.S. soil.
Cruz Azul beat UANL 2-1 in the final in Las Vegas in September.
The top four teams in each conference not already in the Champions League qualified from MLS for the 2020 competition.
