Former Philadelphia Union CEO Nick Sakiewicz has been named Commissioner of the National Lacrosse League according to Metro. Sakiewicz stepped down as CEO of the Union back in October and has landed on his feet in surprisingly quick fashion. Sakiewicz will take over for departing commissioner George Daniel who has overseen the league since 2009.
Having gone through three separate franchises in the past decade, it was unlikely that Sakiewicz would find new employment in MLS. Despite winning two Executive of the Year awards and bringing soccer-specific stadiums to two franchises, Sakiewicz appeared to have worn out his welcome in the league.
