Mexico eased past Bosnia and Herzegovina, 1-0, in a friendly at the Alamodome in San Antonio on Wednesday night.
Philadelphia Union midfielder Haris Medunjanin captained the Bosnians for the second straight match and finished with just one shot in a rather uneventful 90-minute performance. The skipper did, however, spend most of the match as a makeshift center back.
Mexico, preparing for this summer’s World Cup in Russia, spent the entirety of the match on the front foot but could not find a goal in the first half.
The only breakthrough came in the 66th minutes when Hugo Ayala was left wide open on a corner kick and guided a header from Jonathan dos Santos’ corner kick into the upper left corner of the net past Kenan Piric, the second string keeper.
