Philadelphia Union earned a point in their 2017 season opener against Vancouver Whitecaps FC on Sunday night. In front of a crowd of 19,083 at BC Place in Vancouver, the Union played to a scoreless draw.
The Union created their first big chance of the night in the 15th minute of action when veteran leftback Fabinho sent a dangerous ball into the box. The attempt seemed destined to find the foot of 2016 team leading goal-scorer Chris Pontius to give Philadelphia a 1-0 lead, but former Union defender Jordan Harvey was there to clear the threat and keep the match scoreless.
