Philadelphia Union Homegrown defender Mark McKenzie was named to MLS Team of the Week for his performance in Saturday’s nil-nil draw against New York Red Bulls.
McKenzie made his third consecutive start at center back for Head Coach Jim Curtin and the Union. McKenzie was tasked with handling New York’s Bradley Wright-Phillips who entered Saturday’s match tied for the league lead in goals scored.
McKenzie and the Union backline stood tall and kept their Eastern Conference rival off the scoreboard to earn the shutout.
For McKenzie, he recorded 53 touches on the night and recorded a passing accuracy percentage of 91.
