Dublin, Ireland native Alan McCann has been promoted to head coach of Reading United, the Philadelphia Union Premier Development League affiliate announced on Friday.
An assistant under Stephen Hogan since 2016, McCann becomes the club’s fifth head coach since joining the PDL in 2004. Hogan has left the post he’s held since 2015 to take on an expanded role on Brendan Burke’s staff with Bethlehem Steel FC.
Like former head coaches Hogan and Burke (2008-13) before him, McCann also played for Reading United while at college at Northwood University and also has experience playing for St.
