The long wait for the debut of Philadelphia Lone Star and West Chester United in USL League Two ends this afternoon with a meeting of the two local rivals in a 2 p.m. match.
Both teams joined the national development league ahead of the 2020 season, which was canceled because of the pandemic.
Because of the early kickoff at Kildare’s Turf Field in West Chester, the game will be the league’s first official match since the 2019 final in Michigan between Flint City Bucks and Reading United. Flint City won that match 1-0.
West Chester United and Philadelphia Lone Star have been formidable rivals in the National Premier Soccer League and in various cup competitions for a number of years.
