Former Philadelphia Union homegrowns Brenden Aaronson and Mark McKenzie both celebrated their European debuts on Sunday morning with McKenzie starting for K.R.C. Genk while Aaronson entered for FC Red Bull Salzburg in the second half.

After settling into his new club and teammates, McKenzie earned the start for Genk as they were to on the road at league-leading Club Brugge. Genk jumped out to a 2-1 lead at the break but the league-leaders answered with a pair of goals in a 12-minute span to claim a 3-2 home win over McKenzie.

Meanwhile in Austria, Brenden Aaronson's FC Red Bull Salzburg hosted SCR Altach for their first league match of the new year.
