On March 24, Colorado hosted Sporting Kansas City in their home opener, walking away with a 2-2 draw. The Rapids took the early lead in the match with Dominique Badji scoring in the 5th minute of play. Three minutes later, Colorado struck again when Joe Mason found the back of the net to give the club their 2-nil lead.
Sporting KC did not back out of the fight and were able to find themselves in the second half of the match.
