At the half, the Vancouver Whitecaps and Philadelphia Union went into the locker room honors (honours?) even.
The Union were able to maintain possession for a good part of the early going, turning possession into some good pressure at times. The Whitecaps were able to get a few chances early, with Matias Laba having a go at goal from long range about nine minutes in, however the ball was well over Andre Blake’s goal and not troubling the Union at all.
Andre Blake was called to make a save in the 14th minute when Kekuta Manneh sent a good ball in for Cristian Techera, but Blake was able to tip the ball up into the air where he was able to grab it and hold on.
