Earthquakes score late to steal point from Union

A late goal from Simon Dawkins tarnishes the Union's perfect home record.

The ten-man San Jose Earthquakes rallied to steal a point from the Philadelphia Union, who had been perfect at home up to that point. Simon Dawkins's late goal equalled out Chris Pontius's first-half strike.

The Union got their goal off a 30th-minute corner kick. After earning a corner, Pontius rose up to head home Tranquillo Barnetta's immaculate cross. The goal brings Pontius to four on the season, his highest single-year total since his 12-goal season in 2012.

In a recreation of some of the Goonies magic of 2012, Jamaican international Simon Dawkins tore up the Union defense to find the equalizer in the 83rd minute.
