Crew-sing To A Road Victory: Columbus Crew 1-2 Philadelphia Union

Two Chris Pontius goals catapulted the Philadelphia Union to an unlikely 2-1 victory at Columbus.

Following a lackluster performance last week at Dallas, the Union traveled to Columbus where they appeared anything but lackluster in a pleasantly surprising 2-1 victory Saturday evening against the Columbus Crew.

Playing a strong opposition, the Union did not disgrace themselves in the opening minutes. While they struggled initially to generate anything offensively, they also did well to ensure that the Columbus Crew were unable to generate a quality opportunity on Andre Blake in the early going. In fact, the first big opportunity of the match surprisingly went to the Union as a Leo Fernandes shot from the box set up by Chris Pontius was stopped by Columbus keeper Steve Clark.
