Philadelphia Union’s young center backs had an adventure in the club’s 4-1 loss to Los Angeles FC, but there are positives to take away from a buildup that had to advance play without orchestrator supreme Haris Medunjanin and space-sniffer Borek Dockal. Particularly in the first half, Mark McKenzie and Warren Creavalle showed good vision to play difficult balls into and around an organized LAFC defensive block. The Union were nearly on top in the 10th minute when one well-worked chance developed through these two players.
It began with an angled pass into Los Angeles’ defensive mid-block from McKenzie.
