Whether it’s creating opportunities box-to-box or netting a late game winner, Tranquillo Barnetta has settled in as Philadelphia’s playmaker in the midfield.
Barnetta joined the Union in July 2015 from the Bundesliga’s Schalke 04, but it didn’t take long for the Swiss international to make an impact, notching a goal and three assists in 11 matches last season. In 2016, Barnetta’s form has been instrumental in leading the Union attack.
The longtime Bayer Leverkusen man already has two goals and two assists to his name through 11 games for Philadelphia this season – tied for third on the team in both categories.
