Bethlehem Steel FC defeated FC Montreal 1-0 in the club’s inaugural match Friday night at the Olympic Stadium in Montreal.
The first half saw Bethlehem Steel FC with strong attacking opportunities and Eric Ayuk proving a menace on the wing.
Steel FC saw the first good chance on goal in the 9th minute when James Chambers had a shot after a give-and-go with Leo Fernandes. The Irish international fired the ball at the Montreal goal only to hit the post.
Just before the half, Fabian Herbers gave Steel FC the lead in the 43rd minute scoring from Walter Restrepo’s assist.
