There is just over four weeks until the 2018 Army-Navy Cup kicks off at Talen Energy Stadium on Oct. 15, and one of the academy’s coaches, Army West Point Head Coach Russell Payne, boasts a highly-decorated coaching resume.
In addition to serving as Army’s head coach since 2010 where he led the Black Knights to their first victory over Navy since 2008 with a 2-1 win in the 2015 Army-Navy Cup, Payne has been very busy, serving as an assistant coach with the United States Men’s National Team (USMNT), multiple levels of the National Development Program and a scout for the U-17 through U-23 teams.
