When Andre Blake was selected No. 1 overall in the 2014 MLS SuperDraft by Philadelphia Union, it was the first time in league history that a goalkeeper was taken off the board as the first overall pick. Only two years later, Andre Blake is now an MLS All-Star, leading a third-place Union team to one of the more successful seasons in franchise history.
Blake’s progression since entering the league has been remarkable to say the least. Waiting his turn behind more experience in his first two seasons, he has now taken the reigns for Philadelphia in 2016.
