Jake McGuire experienced his first season in professional soccer with the Union in 2017, but spent most of his time with Bethlehem Steel FC, serving as the USL side's starting goalkeeper. And throughout the season, he was a valuable player for the organization, getting vital minutes in USL while also not being afraid to answer the call and serve in the backup role with the Union.
McGuire's 2017 season actually started when he was drafted 30th overall in the 2017 MLS SuperDraft by Houston Dynamo. However, Houston waived McGuire at the beginning of the MLS schedule, and the Union swooped in to sign him just days later.
