For defender Matthew Mahoney, his path to the pros was full of hard work and willingness to do whatever Steel FC needed.
Undrafted out of Temple University, Mahoney wanted to continue his soccer career and joined Steel FC as a preseason trialist. Mahoney made the most of the opportunity, earning four appearances, including a start against Junior Lone Star FC. A former team captain for the Owls, head coach Brendan Burke signed Mahoney on March 3 after seeing the work ethic in each of the club’s training sessions.
