The toast of the Phillies baseball world this past week has been Edmundo Sosa. Clutch hitting, steady fielding and overall excellence to begin his 2025 campaign has made him something of a cult hero. It helps he has thrived in his situations, allowing Rob Thomson to deploy him wisely to help get wins for the team’s ledger. He’s a very useful player and the team has used him well.
Sosa is making $3 million this season and is eligible for arbitration next season. If things are to be believed, he is perhaps the most popular player on the trade market when rival teams assess the team’s roster in advance of trade talks.
