In a move that was over a year in the making, the 54-86 Philadelphia Phillies fired GM Ruben Amaro Thursday. Amaro has been criticized by fans continually for his management, or mismanagement, of the team. There is even a twitter page named “Fire Ruben Amaro Jr.” that has over 2,300 followers in support of relieving the disgruntled GM of his duties. Today, they got their wish, as did I: Ruben Amaro is no longer the GM of the Philadelphia Phillies.

The mess that the Phillies are in right now started in 2008, when the team named Amaro their full-time GM.
