Despite the fact many of us have never met a pro athlete, and certainly most of us have never gotten to know a professional athlete intimately, when news hits that one of our favorite players has died an untimely death, it hits hard.
Roy Halladay wasn’t supposed to die at 40 years old. He wasn’t supposed to die in an airplane that he adored flying. He wasn’t supposed to leave a family behind, a family he loved. And while most of us never met Roy Halladay or got to know him personally, the news still hit hard.
