When Charlie Morton takes the mound against the Los Angeles Dodgers in Game 3 of the World Series Friday night, he won’t be the only former Philadelphia Phillie vying for a championship ring.
The Tampa Bay Rays starter is one of several former Phillies players with the opportunity to win a ring in this World Series.
Morton is joined by fellow Rays pitcher Aaron Loup as the only players on either World Series roster to have previously played for the Phillies. Morton made four starts for the team in 2016 before tearing his hamstring. The left-handed Loup, who retired three consecutive batters as the Rays evened the series in Game 2, was acquired by the Phillies at the trade deadline in 2018.
