J.P. Crawford, the Phillies’ top shortstop prospect, continued to turn his season around Wednesday with an inside-the-park grand slam in the bottom of the fifth inning for the triple-A IronPigs against the visiting Gwinnett Braves.
Crawford’s blast gave the IronPigs a 5-1 lead heading into the sixth inning.
Since a below-.200 start at Lehigh Valley, Crawford has rebounded, batting .233 with 55 walks heading into Wednesday’s game.
Crawford nearly cleared the fence, then needed a deceptive slide to beat the tag at the plate.
