Philadelphia Phillies prospect Griff McGarry flashed an arsenal at Single-A Jersey Shore Wednesday evening that may earn him a ticket to Reading in the not-so-distant future.
A fifth-round pick out of The University of Virginia in 2021, McGarry struck out all six batters he faced while pitching for the BlueClaws Wednesday:
McGarry hasn’t allowed a baserunner in three innings so far this season, having struck out eight of the nine batters he’s squared off against.
MLB Pipeline has the 22-year-old ranked as the No. 9 overall prospect in the Phillies system currently, saying that his four-pitch mix of a fastball, slider, changeup and curveball is “elite, plain and simple.
