Velasquez K's 12 as Phils cap sweep of Giants

PHILADELPHIA -- Right-hander Vince Velasquez flipped a switch in the second inning and helped the Phillies come back to sweep the Giants in a 6-3 victory Thursday afternoon at Citizens Bank Park.

Velasquez allowed three runs and two home runs to the first seven batters he faced, but struck out 11 of the final 17 batters he faced. Just two of those batters reached base. It allowed the Phillies to jump into the lead in the fourth inning when Carlos Santana hit a three-run home run. It allowed the Phillies to sweep the Giants for the first time since May 13-16, 1982, at Veterans Stadium.
