TRENTON - The hardest part of the rehabilitation process, Chase Utley said, is staying patient. The 36-year-old second baseman has been on the disabled list since June 23.
"Obviously, you want to be out there," Utley said Tuesday night after playing in a rehab game with double-A Reading.
Utley played in the field for six innings. It was his first action at second base since June 20. His right ankle, which sent him to the DL after becoming inflamed, did not appear to be a hindrance. Utley played second with ease and ran the bases with energy.
