Tyler Phillips heading to division rival after DFA

Tyler Phillips was one of the casualties of the roster crunch every team faces late in the spring, and it’ll spell the end of his Phillies tenure: He’s headed to the Miami Marlins, FanSided’s Robert Murray reported on Wednesday.

It’s not yet clear whether the move was via trade or waiver claim. Phillips was designated for assignment when the club claimed Carlos Hernández on Sunday, giving them seven days to trade him or place him on waivers. If it’s a trade, it’s not yet clear, of course, what the team got in return.

Phillips provided some fun feel-good moments for the Phillies last July, capping a two-start, 15-inning scoreless streak with a shutout of the Cleveland Guardians in his fourth MLB appearance.
