Top Phillies pick Adam Haseley gets a quick promotion

Adam Haseley's path to the majors, which the Phillies believe will be a quick one, will continue in Williamsport. The first-round pick was promoted from the Gulf Coast League on Thursday after playing just three games.

The 21-year-old center fielder went 7 for 12 with a double, triple, and four RBIs in the GCL, which is made up mostly of teenagers. Williamsport, which plays in short-season Class A, will be a better test.

The Phillies drafted Haseley with the seventh pick after he batted .390 with 14 homers at the University of Virginia. His path likely would have instead started at low-A Lakewood, but center field there is occupied by Mickey Moniak.
