Tom McCarthy has seen a lot in his career as a broadcaster. He’s probably witnessed his fair share of spectator fights in the stands from the broadcast booth at Citizens Bank Park, but nothing quite like the one he saw while broadcasting the VCU-Saint Louis college basketball game at Chaifetz Arena in Missouri on Tuesday night.
With the Saint Louis Billikens leading 69-63 with 1:10 left in the second half, a brawl broke out between at least a dozen people near the VCU bench. Video shows a VCU fan being dragged down a row of seats. Police and public safety officials broke up the brawl that delayed the game by seven minutes.
