The Phillies played two of their worst weeks of the season before finally taking two out of three against the Los Angeles Dodgers. They lost their previous six series in many different ways.
The offense didn’t hit for stretches, the starting pitching wasn’t nearly as dominant, and the bullpen had meltdowns. Some games featured all three.
That stretch doesn’t tell us who the Phillies are of course. They still carry the best record in the sport and have a seven-and-a-half-game lead in the division. Baseball Reference has their playoff odds at 99.5%.
However, they played bad baseball for weeks.
