Soon after the Phillies completed a 7-4 victory over the Blue Jays on August 19, two chairs appeared in the Phillies media room. Moments later, Chase Utley and Ruben Amaro announced that Utley had been traded to the Los Angeles Dodgers. When the media had their chance to raise their hands, one of the first questions for Amaro was whether the Phillies would consider retiring Utley’s number. Don’t worry, there is no suspense here. Utley's number twenty-six will be worn again. Only nine Phillies players have had their numbers retired and all nine of them are in the Hall of Fame.
